Birth month song

The most popular during October of 1991when I was born was Mariah Carey's Emotions. The only thing that I remember was that my sister loved Mariah Carey and always tried to sing it, and it was an epic failure.

My Bucket List

The best way to be successful in life is by planning goals and setting standards for you self. In this bucket list, I will plan out what I need to do whether it’s changing my personal life, behavior, or figuring out what I need to do to become wealthy.

As in the movie Forrest Gump,” Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gunna get.” What that means to me is that life is going to have its ups and downs and you can let the get in the way of your life, so set your personal life aside and do what needs to be done. By the behavior that you exert yourself with and how you carry yourself is how your future looks.

The first steps to greatness you could say is by making smart and thought out choices right now. Now, that I’m in college, I have to realized that I am on my own now and my future is depending on the choices that I make now. My plan so far is too get all my basic and general education classes done here at San Jose State. Then from there decide what I want to do as a major. As of right now, I have two choices that I have come up with. It is either transfer to Cal State Northridge and pursue a degree in Deaf Studies or go to the Culinary School in San Francisco; these are my goals for the next couple years.

Within ten or so years I plan to have graduated from college and have a masters and bachelors degree. With those degrees, to then find a well paying and steady job. From then just stay on a bright and straight path and always have my head in the skies always believing that there is always more to get out of life then what is right in front of you.

Twenty years from now I plan to be wealthy, healthy, and married with a couple of kids, happily living some where beautiful with a warm climate. But these things can only be possible from the choices that I make now. Never lose track of your thoughts and goals and always reach for the stars.

Non-Muse Event #3

For my third non muse report myself and my room mates went to the basketball game here against William Jessup on Monday 16, 2009. The game started at 7 p.m. I had mixed thoughts going to the game, because I hoped our basketball team was better then our football team. Since we are a division one basketball team and William Jessup is a division 2 team I thought it should be a easy win and if it wasn't we also, had a long basketball season ahead. When the game started it was a close game till mid way through the first half then we started to pull away which was good. By half time we were up by 15 points which is a good coo-shin but, they needed to keep it up. When the second half started it was the same as the first close till mid way through then we pulled away again. In the end, we came out victorious which was a win feeling because I wasn't use to going to a sporting event and be the winning school. The final score was 63-89. I hope we have more wins this year then just one and I plan on going to more basketball games.

Lyrics Analysis

The rock 'N' roll song that I picked analyze and its lyrics is, "Hit the road Jack", by Ray Charles. What the lyrics mean is that a girl treated a man badly and he cant take it anymore. Then he says I have to pack my things and go and the girls say that's right and don't come back no more no more. Then he talks about how he will get back on his feet someday and doesn't need her. Then in the end he like is trying to get her to take him back but she doesn't want him anymore and says " don't you come back no more." I love this song my mom sang it to me as a joke when I was little before I went to school all the way up to middle school. The songs means to me completely different to me now then what it did when I was little. When I was little I just thought it was a song that was joking to someone that to hit the road and never come back. Now, after analyzing the song I understand what it means how she treated him bad he leaves then he wants her back but she doesn't want him back and then he for reals hits the road and never comes back.

Moment that change the history of rock& roll

The moment that I selected was the time in 1962 when the infamous James Brown was at the apollo. On that night the James Brown band was recording a live album, James Brown wanted to make a live album that would show what he and his band could do through an entire performance. But, Syd Nathan, the head of James Brown label, said how people were only interested in new hot singles. That didn't stop James Brown though he put all his money to finance the recording himself, at a cost of $5,700. This album was a huge hit as James Brown anticipated it sold around 1 million copies.

Non muse event # 2

For my non muse event I went to Lovefest or as they say lovevloution. It was held in San Francisco, by city hall. This day was crazy, interesting, and fun all at the same time. Every where you looked you would see something crazy like a crazy costume like i saw a group of people dressed up as cops but with minimal clothing, there were a few naked people. (ewwww gross) Why were they naked I don't know but I'm also not surprise because it is San Francisco and everyone there on that special day was either drug or under the influence of some kind of drug. Lovefest is about dressing up weird, getting really messed up and going to the city to party and dance in the streets because their are multiple DJ booths blasting music, basically San Francisco is turn into an outdoor rave for a day. All in all I had a great time and can't wait till next year to go again.

Interview with a senior

The person that I interviewed was my cousin Steven who went to SJSU and graduated last year with a degree in biology. He told me that he was undeclared for the first two years then he decided on his third year that science specifically biology was for him. Some advice that he gave me was to not always get your work done and never procrastinate. Don't party too hard because it will slowly reflect in your grades and your not paying a lot of money to party hard and not get and education. The last advice that he gave me was that you on your own now its up to you and only you, if u mess around in college then you will not have a bright future in store for you but, if you do your work and pay attention you will still have time to have fun and party on top of that have a bright an exciting future in store for yourself.

Non-Muse Event

For my non muse event I went to the football game at home against University of Utah. It was actually a really close game I was surprise until late in the third quarter early fourth when Utah broke out of there slump and came attacking. Even though we did lose the game......(no surprise), our team stayed in that game against a nationally rank football team. The final score was 24-14 but we were tied till the fourth quarter. We did play good though I do give our team that they never gave up. Maybe next time we play them we will win. I hope.. GO SJSU!!

Scholarly Journal Article Summary

The scholarly journal article that I read was called, "Recording Notes: Ray Charles: The Genius and Friends at the End of the Road" by Blair Jackson. The article was about how even when we wasn't in his prime how up and coming musicians or already popular musicians still just wanted to work with Ray Charles this musical titan, which he is to say the leas. Then it went saying how Ray Charles played every style of music and turn every style into his own style. Lastly it talks about how Ray Charles was an artist who liked to have complete control over his albums. Also, he was a magnificent arranger and bandleader, a shrew businessman and ever learned engineering. Ray Charles accomplished so much throughout his career, also with dealing being blind, but still being successful and giving the audience amazing music.

Music memories #2

The two people that interviewed were my mother and father. They both gave me identical answers it was weird. They both said that when they were growing up they listened to elvis, chuck berry, ray charles, little richard. Then in their teens they agreed that they loved listen to rolling stones, the temptations, jackson five, the beatles, beach boys. Now my moms still listens to the same music including michael jackson, elton john, bee gees. While on the other hand my dad doesn't listen to music anymore unless he has to listen to it but I guess that he would listen to the same music.

MUSE Work shop #1

The muse workshop that I went to was a workshop to help deal with tests and the anxiety that can or will come with them. The speaker taught us how to calm down and relax before, during, and after a big test. First she told us that test anxiety is really common and it usually happens multiple times during a school year, then she went on saying that anxiety occurs when stress is excessive to the point it hinders the ability to perform well on a test. Some stress is good though because it gives you adrenaline but yet again she stated that too much is bad and will hurt your mind during a test. The feelings of test anxiety, you might experience rapid heart beat, upset stomach, shakiness, sweating, and rapid shallow breaths. Then we did an exercise to prevent of help calm your self from to much anxiety, so we put our hands to our side and took 3 deep breaths. Then she went on saying that others way to prevent from getting really nervous for a test was to be prepared, positive talk to your self, take care of yourself, and visualized doing well. Lastly she talked about rewarding your self after a big test, by doing something fun and interesting that would take your mind off the test. I enjoyed the workshop it really helped me a lot because I get test anxiety extremely easy and it shows when I take a test and my grade suffers.

Study Tip # 3

My next study tip is to always take notes during class, then review those notes before you go to sleep so in a way your slowly studying for the test so you don't have to cram the night before and then have test anxiety then do bad.

Study Tip #2

When studying for a big test, do something to put yourself in a good mood. Like eat one of your favorite foods. Just being in a mood allows me to study easier, concentrate more, and be able to study longer.

about me

My name is Michael Kajioka. I'm 17 from Danville, California. I have an older sister she is 21.I'm the first and only person in my family to go to college. I picked to go to San Jose State because my cousin went here and said it was a good school, then he showed me around and I loved the campus. I picked this class because the class title and description sounded very interesting to me.
